Sharapova will return to competitive tennis at the start of 2009 by playing World Team Challenge in Hong Kong which is a team event starting from January 7 and will end on 10th.
She will represent Russia in the event ,the event also features 3 other teams representing Europe , America and Asia-Pacific.
After that she will play at Australian open 2009, starting January 19th.
She has struggled with injuries all year especially the shoulder, she announced on her website on September 26th that she is taking the rest of the year off, she will return to competitive tennis in early 2009, hope she is healthy again next year.

Next year. I’m not sure as early as AO but she is defending champ. Maybe she comes later, not even Maria knows exactly sure.
