Rafael Nadal vs Andy Murray — Wimbledon 2010
bit.ly Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray meet in the semifinals of Wimbledon in what is shaping up to be an epic match. The last time these two met in a major — the 2010 Australian Open — Murray beat Nadal in straights when the Spaniard retired in the third with a knee injury. Rafa is coming off a masterful performance against Soderling. He only committed twelve unforced errors the entire match and broke Soderling down after the Swede’s fast start. Murray will have to use his considerable variety to play offense — he can’t sit back and simply move the ball around the court in a semi-passive manner. Nadal is playing too well for that and will dominate the match if the Scot elects to use that strategy. Murray probably knows this and I expect him to implement a game plan similar to the one he used against Nadal in Australian — serve big, attack second serves, and play selectively aggressive. So what’s my prediction? I think Nadal takes this match in five sets. He looked great against Soderling — he defended well and transitioned quickly to the attack when he had a chance — and I think he’ll have a little too much game for Murray. IMAGINE THE LEVEL OF INTELLECT THAT FINDS A MAN HITTING A BALL WITH A STICK.STIMULATING,ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!
Boooooring lol
@EXP05210 Yeah, he did that in the 3rd round against Melzer’s double partner (forgot the name). The dude was 2-1 sets up against Nadal. In the 4th, rafa called the trainer, and as soon as play resumed, the dude got broken and eventually lost the match. BUT soderling did the exact same thing in the 3rd set, when he was 5-4 down i fink. When play resumed Nadal was broken, but won the set in a tie break
@splanky89 : I agree. FYB2007 is so angry that his idol Federer keeps losing, that he gives shitty pronostics on Rafa. He said he would lose against Soderling in RG, he won in straight sets ! He said he would beat Murray in 5 sets, he won in straight sets ! I hope no one bets money based on his advice !
nadal would call the physio to check his knee or his back when he’s loosing the game and by that time the momentum of his opponent would be gone so rafa could takeover the business. it’s very phil jackson style in basketball and its a very good tactic
Good analysis! I picked Rafa to win in 4, but I agree with most of what you said here. That said, why would you keep refering to the 2010 AO match, when Rafa was obviously struggling with some injuries?
Anywho, looking for Rafa/Berdych analysis, Rafa/Murray is history now.
Allow me to shed some light on predictions and sports commentary. Some of you kids are getting this wrong. Fed is a statistical safe choice in predictions because of his record(s) in all aspects of the game. It’s not a dick sucking contest, just like you all seem to make it out to be. Nadal being the higher player, to make things interesting we have to analyze what it takes to beat him and see if the lower stat player can do it. You kids need to calm down.
LOL
Nice haircut, by the way.
close 5 set match. just like you picked robin to win the french open you once again fail in your prediction. straight sets to nadal yet again. you must be getting very annoyed at how bad your predictions are becoming. or maybe you’re just angry that your federer keeps losing now that he’s turning 29 in august.
@reagansgirls thats like saying that in a international soccer match that commentators can’t support for their own team. this is a bit thesame i guess so i don’t mind if they are supporting murray, it’s kinda logic
@ihateuutube yesterday i was watching the murray nadal match on tv n the commentators did the same thing…..commenting on wayd 4 murray to beat nadal…it was sooo irritating….at least when u r a commentator u have to be nutral regardless of which nationality u belong….its crazy
@ihateuutube lol well dais mate….but rafas gonna win wimbledon tomorrow n prove hes the best in the world…vamos
All this clown ever does is imagine ways for people to beat Nadal. He’s got his head so far up Fed’s butt.
@linkthemaster1 Actually I thought the winner of the Soderling-Nadal match would be the eventual winner…I think those 2 have played the best and Nadal is in a beastly form…An all-time best performance imo!
yeah BrotherTree, Nadal has a very intelligent game, this guy is awesome. he was building his points on murray’s forehand to take advantage of short or too long returns and strike a winner on the other side. he uses the same technique against federer, but on his backhand. rafa has a perfect knowledge of his opponents
@cuarteto6x8 what was also smart in nadals 2nd serve, was that instead of kicking that huge lefty serve to the backhand, he kick served it in murrays forehand and that was an excellent tactic i thought. the focus by rafa in that match was incredible.
GEEK
@BrotherTree1 otherwise*
rafas forehand had alot of bite to it and kept on using it to bite murrays favored backhand. murrays backhand was no where to be seen in that match, nadal was too strong overall. murray never had a chance from the get-go i knew it was gunna be straight sets. rafa didnt play his best either, other if he really did catch on fire, he would have eclipsed that 6-3 6-2 6-4 scoreline vs murray like back in 2008.
fyb2007 understimated nadal skills to read a match, he knew murrays backhand is too good and grass is low bounce surface, so he made target on murray’s poor forehand, actually he did the same in indian wells last year, I don’t know why he went to the backhand in australia. nadal has a good chance to win the tournament but don’t take it for granted, he knows that and I am sure he will be 100% focused in every single point as he always does
when is it on? and if i missed it, who won??
Sadly Andy lost …

@MrMotherBrain Yeah, people definitely underestimate him. No mere defensive grinder would give Federer such a hard time. As the commentators noted today, Rafa was playing awesome at the net, and one volley in particular was just amazing. I would say that Rafa began as a clay court specialist but has since developed his game so that he can succeed anywhere. It’s not unlike how Federer used to be a serve and volleyer but also developed a better all court game.
@tom10552 the fact is that some people udnerestimate Rafa. He’s a fantastic player and not the “physical defensive” player that I heard in the video. How can you beat Soderling on grass if you spend your time defending ? Impossible (or it will take hours). You gotta be aggressive ! Rafa can adapt his style according to his opponents. He can be aggressive, defensive, can exploit his opponents weaknesses (like federer’s backhand or murray’s forehand). He’s one of the best players ever imo.
nice breakdown. love the federer shirt.
