Women’s Name-Brand Shoes for Spring 2010

Hot Name Brands for Spring 2010 Women’s Shoes

The trends for this year’s women’s spring shoes invite personality, flair, and fun into your spring 2010 wardrobe! Bright colors pair with increasingly-popular natural materials such as cork and rope to create a new bold and unique look. The actual styles of the hottest spring 2010 shoes do not differ too much from those trends of the fall, and include booties, gladiator sandals, platform sandals, and wedges—but the most popular name brand shoes have taken the classic fall styles and added a twist of personality through color, pattern, and materials in order to create chic spring 2010 shoe trends.

Open Your Eyes to the Open-Toed Bootie

Booties are becoming an increasingly popular trend in women’s shoes, and for spring 2010, open-toed women’s booties are in! The open-toed booties provide air circulation, keeping your tootsies from getting too toasty, while at the same time adding decoration to your ankle. One of the most popular brand names is Dolce Vita, with the contrasting Joey Ankle Boot and the Vince Peep Toe Booties. The Joey Ankle Boot provides a timeless and simple design, with a fold-down cuff for a sprinkling of flair. On the other hand, the Vince Peep Toe Booties add spice to a simpler outfit with their intricate buckle detail.

Glad They’re Back: Gladiators

After being booted out by the booties last season, gladiator sandals have fought their way back to the forefront of fashion for spring 2010 shoes! The trendiest gladiators are unique in design and vary in color. It’s the truth that no two pairs of gladiators are alike! Some of the biggest name brand shoes this spring include the Maria Sharapova Collection and Michael Kors. Maria Sharapova’s Women’s Gwaltney Gladiator sandal presents a layered look and incorporates a closed back and scooped sides, mixing delicate and strong aspects together to create a fresh trend. Michael Kors’ Scorpion gladiator sandals, made with patent leather, are available in a variety of colors to compliment any outfit!

Build Me Up, Buttercup!

If you buy women’s platform sandals this spring, your wardrobe will not be let down! The trendy gladiator sandals mentioned above are also trés chic with a bit of a lift, as evidenced by the popularity of Giuseppe Zanotti’s I9179 Platform Sandal. Patterned and brightly colored heels are also hot for women’s spring shoes this year. Many name brands, including Christian Louboutin, Guess, and Seychelles, offer pumps in bright patterns and floral colors, including yellows and reds. Wedges are also hot this spring. Giuseppe Zanotti’s I96166 Wedge Pump, for example, encompasses two of spring 2010’s most popular shoe trends: a high wedge and a vibrant leopard print.

Trendy Feet for Spring 2010

This year, women’s spring shoes are characterized by personality and flair. Bold colors and bright patterns dominate the shoe scene. Popular name brands that have done the best job of following the hottest trends this spring include Dolce Vita, Maria Sharapova, Michael Kors, Christian Louboutin, and Giuseppe Zanotti. But name brands are just a guide: of course, the best way keep your feet from looking frumpy is to keep in mind the most popular styles for spring 2010 shoes: women’s booties, gladiator sandals, and wedges, oh my!

FRENCH OPEN BETTING ? WOMEN’S SEMI FINALS

Day twelve at Roland Garros sees the Semi Final matches between the final four players left in the Women’s tournament. Who will be playing in Saturday’s final? BetRepublic.com previews both matches here:

Elena Dementieva v Francesca Schiavone Tennis Betting:

The bookmakers are having a hard time determining who will be the player that progresses to the French Open final with both PaddyPower.com and William Hill having odds of 5/6 for both Dementieva and Schiavone to win the match. It looks like it’ll be a close match, but will it be the fifth or seventeenth seed that progresses to the final?

After a relatively easy route through the tournament, Dementieva came across Nadia Petrova in the Quarter Finals. Petrova had defeated Venus Williams in round four and started the Quarter Final match with great confidence and won the first set in an injury broken sixty-two minutes. From there, however, things went downhill for the nineteenth seed as Dementieva got into her stride and won the next two sets 6-2, 6-0 to book her Semi Final place. She will need to perform like she did in those final two sets to progress to the final, but will Dementieva be able to?

Schiavone is the first Grand Slam semi finalist from Italy since the Open era began and she has claimed this feat in style. She has beaten three seeded players on route to the final four, Na Li (11) in round three, Maria Kirilenko (30) in round four and Caroline Wozniacki (3) in the Quarters. More impressive than that is the fact that bar dropping her first set of the tournament she has won the following ten sets to reach the Semi Finals. She is clearly the player in the better form of the two, but can she reach the final?

This will be the eleventh meeting of the two players, with Dementieva holding a 6-4 advantage on the scorecard. Dementieva has won the last three encounters and Schiavone’s last victory against the Russian came in 2007. Also, they have met just once on clay with Dementieva emerging victorious. Despite this I feel that Schiavone will add another victory to her previous four wins against Dementieva as her form at Roland Garros has been exceptional so far. My money will be on Francesca Schiavone to beat Elena Dementieva at odds of 5/6.

Jelena Jankovic v Samantha Stosur Tennis Betting Tips:

After beating Justine Henin and Serena Williams in the last two rounds, it is unsurprising that Samantha Stosur is the favourite with William Hill at odds of 8/13 to reach the final of the French Open. My pre-tournament favourite Jelena Jankovic is available at 6/5. Who will be right, me or the bookies?

Of the two players Jankovic has had the easier route to this point in the tournament and has only had to defeat the twenty-third and twenty-seventh seeds in rounds three and four. Unsurprisingly she has dropped just the one set on the way to the final four and that came against Kaia Kanepi in the second round.

Stosur, on the other hand, has beaten the top seed in Serena Williams in the Quarter Finals and the four time winner of the French Open in Justine Henin in round four. Henin started off the stronger of the two in their match and won the first set 6-2 in thirty-two minutes before Stosur won the next two sets 6-1, 6-4 to book her place in the last eight of the competition. Filled with confidence from beating Henin she raced off into a 6-2, 5-3 lead before Serena came back and won the second set in a tie-breaker. The final set was nip and tuck until the very end when Stosur broke Williams at 7-6 and won the match 6-2, 6-7, 8-6 in what was an epic game. Can she carry on from there and book her place in the final?

These two players have met on four previous occasions and Jankovic has won three compared to Stosur’s single win. All four matches have been played on hard courts and they have met twice this year with the score tied at 1-1, with Stosur winning the last game in Miami. None of their four matches have gone to three sets, but I feel that this one will with Stosur in the form of her life and highly confident after her last two victories. Unfortunately for her I am sticking with my original prediction of Jankovic to win the title, so I’ll be backing her at odds of 6/5 to win this match. I’ll also be putting a small bet on Jankovic to win 2-1 @ 7/2 with PaddyPower.com.

BetRepublic.com Recommends:

•    Francesca Schiavone to beat Elena Dementieva @ 5/6

•    Jelena Jankovic to beat Samantha Stosur @ 6/5

•    Jelena Jankovic to win 2-1 @ 7/2

French Open Women’s Final Tennis Betting

This Saturday sees the final day’s action for the ladies at Roland Garros as Francesca Schiavone takes on Samantha Stosur in a surprise final. Who will emerge with their first Grand Slam victory? BetRepublic.com previews the action here.

Francesca Schiavone v Samantha Stosur Tennis Betting:

Both of these players have been the surprise packages of the tournament, with Schiavone becoming the first Italian to reach a Grand Slam semi final, and now final, in the Open era while Stosur has beaten four time winner Justine Henin and world number one Serena Williams on route to the final. PaddyPower.com have made Stosur a 2/9 favourite to claim the title ahead of 13/4 for Schiavone, mainly down to whom she has beaten and the fact that she is unbeaten against Schiavone since 2005. Will that run continue or will Schiavone become the first Italian to win a Grand Slam?

In her last three matches Stosur has had to overcome four time winner Justine Henin in round four, world number one Serena Williams in the Quarter Finals and the fourth seed, and my pre-tournament favourite for the title, Jelena Jankovic in the Semis. Stosur took three sets to get past both Henin and Serena, but she completely blew Jankovic away with a 6-1, 6-2 win to book her place in her first ever Grand Slam final. Can she continue in this form to claim the 2010 French Open title?

Schiavone has beaten seeded players in her last four matches, with three of those matches being against players seeded above her. The seventeenth seed defeated Na Li (11) in round three, Maria Kirilenko (30) in the fourth round, Caroline Wozniacki (3) in the Quarter Finals and Elena Dementieva (5) in the last four. She won the first three of those matches in straight sets with the semi final match against Dementieva going on for just one set as Dementieva retired with a calf injury after losing the set 7-6. In fact, apart from the first set of her first match, Schiavone has not dropped a set on her run to the final. Can she keep that going and make history as the first Italian to win a Grand Slam in the Open era?

These two players have met on five previous occasions and Stosur leads the scorecard 4-1. The Australian has won the last four matches and Schiavone’s only win came in 2005. Of their five previous matches two have been on clay and Stosur has won both of these in straight sets, including beating Schiavone in the first round of the 2009 French Open. However, I feel that things will be different this time around with both players in highly confident moods after their exceptional runs to this point. Who will win though? Despite Schiavone having lost just one set in six matches at Roland Garros this year I feel that Stosur has had the more difficult run in terms of matches, if not opponents, and she has had to dig deeper to get the results and this will have her better prepared for whatever may happen in the final. I don’t expect Schiavone to make it easy for her though, so my money is on a 2-1 Stosur win at odds of 16/5 with William Hill.

BetRepublic.com Recommends Tennis Betting Tips:

•    Back Samantha Stosur to win the French Open by beat Francesca Schiavone 2-1 @ 16/5

Grand Slam Tennis – Hits and Misses in the Women’s Draw

I might make Serena Williams an exception but the problem with the Williams sisters is that nothing is a given, nothing is sure. Just when one thinks they are out, they fight back and win, just when one thinks they are sure to win, they fail and lose.

The women’s side has produced the biggest upset at the time I wrote this. Top seed Jelena Jankovic lost her fourth round match and received a straight sets thrashing from Frenchwoman Marian Bartoli, 1-6, 4-6. Jankovic’s exit follows the path of fellow Serb Ana Ivanovic who was the fifth seed and Venus Williams who was the sixth. But unlike the two, Jankovic’s conqueror has better credentials, someone who can beat the top seed at any given day as long as she plays her best tennis.

Marion Bartoli, the 16th seed, gained prominence last year at Wimbledon when she reached the final and played against eventual winner Venus Williams. But what made her feat remarkable was the road she took in reaching the finals. She beat the then third seed Jankovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a match that was stopped many times because of the weather. Her most notable conquest was when she came from behind a set down and defeated the then top seed Justine Henin in the semi-final 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Dinara Safina battled really hard and clawed her way back as she defeated Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, seeded 15th with a tennis score of 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Safina displayed true grit and determination as she tried to turn the match in her favor while facing two match points against herself. She was 2-5 down and then faced two match points at 3-5. But she saved both of them as she produced winners and Cornet wilted under Safina’s onslaught to finally win the match. The Russian though had high total of 52 unforced errors and eight double faults against her opponent’s 29 and four double faults. She should bring these numbers down in her next match in the quarterfinals which could be against Jelena Dokic or fellow Russian Alisa Kleybanova.

For the other seeds that fell, I am more puzzled with what is ailing Ivanovic. Is it a crisis of confidence? Has she recovered from her injuries? I guess she even cannot figure out what is wrong with her. But I did notice a lot of things when I watched her play. Gone is the fire in her eyes, that drive that makes someone persevere through difficult moment of the match. One can just see the uncertainty replacing the fire. When she plays the tough points, she seems unsure of what to do and scared to make the shot that can win the point. I saw that fire when she battled Daniela Hantuchova in their semi-final match last year. The same edge when she battled Maria Sharapova in the first set. Perhaps all she needs is an ego-boosting win over a high ranking player. Then her confidence can improve tremendously.

Venus Williams has not won an Australian Open title. Perhaps, she will never win it. Her erratic showing during this tournament undescores one thing, that her preparations for this tournament is not enough for her to get into the groove. Probably for her that is fine, as long as she wins Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.

2010 Australian Open Women’s Predictions — Serena Williams FTW!

www.fuzzyyellowballs.com The 2010 Australian Open starts tomorrow! In this video I make my predictions for the women’s draw. I expect Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniaki to face off in the semifinals on the top half of the draw. On the bottom half I think you’ll have Kim Clijsters vs. Dinara Safina. I predict the final will be a rematch of one of the 2009 US Open’s semifinal matches — Serena Williams vs. Kim Clijsters. That was, of course, a controversial match. I think Serena is going to beat Clijsters in the Australian Open final — her mental toughness is going to be one of things that puts her over the top. In another video we’re running an Australian Open contest — whoever picks the finals match-up, winner, and gets to closest to the score wins a free year to FYB Premium. There is a link in this video that will take you to that video if you want to enter. Good luck!

Australian Open – a New Era in Women’s Tennis

When Ana Ivanovic won the French Open to snap Henin’s hold on the title after winning it for three consecutive times, tennis fans proclaimed the youthful Serbian player as the next player who shall dominate the sport, a picture of beauty and grace that has not been seen in the sport since Martina Hingis ruled the women’s side. Ivanovic started to wilt under pressure. Maria Sharapova got sidelined for the rest of the year due to her shoulder injury while Jelena Jankovic has to win a major before she can claim the top ranking convincingly. That leaves the Williams sisters to battle each other out to stake claim as no.1 female tennis player.

Serena lost to Venus in the Wimbledon final. But the sisters returned to the court together to win the doubles crown a few moments later. Serena then won the U.S. Open but not after she avenged her loss to her sister as she defeated her in return during the quarterfinals. It then started the tug-of-war between the sisters for the right to be called no.1.

The sisters have started their Grand Slam tennis live season in contrasting fashion but produced positive results.Venus didn’t reach the fourth round but she teamed wit Serena to win the ladies doubles title as they defeated Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama, 6-3, 6-3. Serena then returned to the Rod Laver Arena the next day and faced Dinara Safina and won convincingly 6-0, 6-3 to win the 2009 Women’s Australian Open and reclaim the no. 1 ranking from previous owner Jelena Jankovic.

Serena’s devastating win over Safina has ushered in the reemergence of the younger Williams as the most dominant female tennis player of her time. She reigned the women’s circuit in 2002-2003 and proved to be someone who was extremely difficult to beat at that time.  She has now won back-to-back Grand Slam titles including the U.S. Open last year. It also insured her place in the history of women’s tennis results. Her singles win has made her win Grand Slam title no. 10 and overtake Monica Seles for the seventh position. The doubles win was their eight Grand Slam title as partners. She was the last player both male or female to have won all four Grand Slam crowns and with her win in this year’s Australian Open, she now has the chance to win all four major titles in a single season. Not only will she be unbeatable in the singles but her win in the women’s doubles together with Venus sets her up to be the player who shall rule women’s tennis for a long, long time.

Safina’s attitude after she lost the match is quite admirable. Truly, she cannot dispute the fact that Serena just overpowered her. Williams made sure that Safina won’t be able to be in the match and she kept the aggressive pressure up. Safina was gracious enough to admit that she lost to the best player and even had to call herself a “ballgirl”. And Safina was right, everything now is up to Serena.
