U.S. Open Tennis Tickets ? Andy Roddick Poised for a Comeback

With the weather warming up this spring, eyes in the sporting world began to shift to tennis, and more specifically the U.S. Open. The usual suspects are among the top contenders for the title, but one of the top names in tennis is pushing toward a comeback: American Andy Roddick. Roddick showed his potential to be a top contender during this year’s Grand Slam when he won the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla. in early April. To get there, he topped perennial great Rafael Nadal in the semifinals before beating Tomas Berdych.

The Grand Slam kicked off with the Australian Open in January, which saw Murray making it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Marin Cilic. The Australian Open was won by Roger Federer, with Andy Murray as the runner-up. On the women’s side, it was Serena Williams who walked away with the championship, topping Justine Henin. The appearance marked Roddick’s ninth in the Australian Open. He has never won the tournament, but he has finished in the semifinals four times (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009).

Roddick will be looking at the French Open next, which kicks off at the end of May. Roddick hasn’t done especially well in the French Open in the past, never finishing better than the fourth round. Roger Federer is the defending champion, defeating Robin Söderling. After the French Open, the next big tournament in tennis is the Wimbledon Championship in late June and early July in London. Roddick will be out for revenge this Wimbledon, as he had an impressive run to the finals in 2009 only to lose to Roger Federer.

The Grand Slam wraps up with the 2010 U.S. Open from Aug. 30 to Sept. 12 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Billy Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Roddick didn’t have a very successful run in 2009, losing in the third round. The 2009 Finals were exciting as Juan Martin del Potro stole the title from Roger Federer. Had he won, it would have marked the sixth straight U.S. Open championship for Federer. Roddick was in the finals in 2006 and he won the U.S. Open in 2003.

Fans who want to be a part of this year’s excitement can find U.S. Open Tennis tickets at StubHub.com. In the current Men’s Tennis ATP Rankings, Roddick is ranked seventh. He is behind Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Juan Marin del Porto and Nikolay Davydenko. Roddick has time to make his way up the rankings before the start of the U.S. Open. Roddick’s success in 2010 signals that his career is truly on an upswing.

Roddick was also focused on giving back during the recent Sony Ericsson Open. He was part of a celebrity doubles exhibition, raising money to help victims of the Chilean earthquake. It was played in two sets, with Chilean Fernando Gonzalez, Jim Courier and Gustavo Kuerten also partaking in the charity event. Thousands of fans were in attendance, and the event raised $125,000.

How will Juan Martin Del Potro fair at the U.S. Open?

He is on a win streak right now and is doing great. But I noticed on thing, during this win streak, he has only played two top 10 players, Andy Roddick and Richard Gasquet. With that said, how far do you think Del Potro will get at the U.S. Open where all the top players will be, players much better than Roddick and Gasquet?
