Henin Vs Williams an Interesting Final in the Quarters

Everything is ready for the showdown at the quarter finals between Serena Williams and Justine Henin at the French Open this coming Tuesday. Right now, we cannot forget what happened in the French Open 4 years ago when Serena was playing the final against Henin.

At the moment, the crowd was not on William’s side to the point that the defending champion was in tears after her 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 loss against Henin, who went on to claim her first Grand Slam title.

Four years later and with more serious issues they both have battled with personal adversity to become even stronger on the court grounds. Williams, on her part, feels the fact of a hostile crowd will not be that important.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Williams said. “I’ve been through death. I had surgery I think since then. I’ve been through a lot. It takes a strong person to be able to be at the bottom of the barrel and be able to come back. And I was completely – I was beyond the bottom of the barrel.

“I was really down there and, you know, it’s hard to be able to come back. Especially when everyone seems like is against you and you have so many doubters and the only person that you can count on is you and your family. And especially living in the public eye like me, it’s not easy.”

Henin said “What happened in 2003, it’s been one of the best memories of my career. It’s been the beginning of an amazing adventure in Grand Slams for me,” she said. “And I will never forget that moment. And I’m totally fine about that. It’s four years ago now and a lot of things happened in our careers, in our personal lives. And we probably grew up a lot. So the situation is completely different this time.”

We hope this year the crowd will be more generous with the players to even cheer for them. We’ll see what happens with the players on the court.
