I think he’s had a brilliant 2010, SF in Australian Open (lost to Murray, 6-3,4-6,4-6,2-6), 4th Round in French Open (lost to Soderling,), a dissapointing Wimbledon only got to 1st Round (lost to Florian Mayer, 2-6,4-6,6-7), 2nd Round of US Open (lost to Kei Nishikori, 5-7,7-6,3-6,7-6,6-1).

With a day’s rest under his belt following his last eight win over Rafael Nadal, Murray needs no added incentive in his mission to win a first grand slam.

The British No 1’s limp exit at the US Open in September at the hands of the Croatian will give Murray all the motivation he needs to reach Sunday’s final.

Cilic has spent over eight hours more time on court that Murray and hopefully, should today’s contest go the distance, the fact Murray is yet to drop a set this championship could well work in his favour.

The last time that the Scot and the Croatian met, in the fourth round of last season’s US Open, McEnroe implied that Murray had showed all the on-court cool and class of a battery chicken, that he had “laid an egg” on court in New York City. On this occasion, when Murray plays his first semi-final at the slam Down Under, McEnroe’s hen metaphors hopefully will not be applicable.

“Obviously, I want to win the tournament, and potentially I am six sets away from doing that,” said Murray, the only one of the semi-finalists yet to drop a set. He will be attempting to add to his appearance in the 2008 US Open final, when he lost to Roger Federer. Murray does not just want to feature in another slam final; he also wants to get there with a ‘clean’ run through the draw sheet.

So far, so good for Murray. “I think it’s pretty amazing that I haven’t lost a set yet, that doesn’t happen that often that a guy makes a semi-final of a slam without dropping a set. I would love to get to the final without dropping one. I’ve had a great start to the tournament.”

I also see here mistake by bookies. Cilic is very decent player no doubt in it but i think that odds are settled here as a overreaction to Cilic’s win over Del Potro. But bookies didnt mind that Del Potro these days doesnt play his best tennis. Several months ago he played much better. So this win over Del Potro didnt surprise me at all. Roddick is playing very well in this tournament. He managed to turn over match against Gonzalez. If you ask me to compare Cilic and Gonzalez i’ll will say that even Gonzalez is a little bit better. Cilic had problems even against Tomic who is mediocre player. Odds on other bookies are lower than this and i expect Ladbrokes to slash it when people start to bet.
