Kim Clijsters- US Open 2009 Comeback Story
Kim Clijsters 2009 US Open Comeback Story.
Grand Comeback Of Justine Henin
Justine Henin is a globally acknowledged tennis player, who has had huge success on all surfaces of the game, and has so far achieved Grand Slam success on clay and hard courts, winning 4 French Open titles, including 3 consecutive titles between 2005 and 2007, which ties Monica Seles’ record of most consecutive Roland Garros titles won by a woman. This achievement has made her the most successful female clay court player of the last decade (2000-2009). She has also won 3 Grand Slam titles on hard court, winning the US Open title in 2003 and 2007, and the Australian Open title in 2004. She has also reached the Wimbledon final 2 times, in 2001 and 2006, but is yet to win this title.
Henin established herself as a top competitor in 2001 when she reached the women’s singles semifinals of the French open. In 2008, Henin started the year as the World No. 1. 14 January marked Henin’s 100th career week as World No. 1, and on 10 March, Henin became only the seventh female player to be ranked World No. 1 for 12 consecutive months. On 14 May 2008, Henin announced her immediate retirement from professional tennis. She was 25 years old and ranked world No 1 at the time. She announced her return to competitive tennis on September 22, 2009.In September 2009, Justine Henin announced that she would return to the WTA Tour after a twenty month break.
At the 2010 Australian Open, Henin was given a wildcard as an unranked player. In the first round, she defeated Kirsten Flipkins from Belgium 6-4, 6-3. In the second round, Henin defeated World No. 5 Elena Dementieva from Belgium, 7-5, 7-6(6) in a two hour fifty minute match that commentators felt was worthy of a final. Henin approached the net forty-three times, winning thirty-five of those points. Finally at last she set up a clash with world No. 1 Serena Williams in the 2010 Australian Open Ladies Final. This was the first time in their long rivalry that Henin and Serena Williams met in a Grand Slam Final.

U.S. Open Tennis Tickets ? Andy Roddick Poised for a Comeback
With the weather warming up this spring, eyes in the sporting world began to shift to tennis, and more specifically the U.S. Open. The usual suspects are among the top contenders for the title, but one of the top names in tennis is pushing toward a comeback: American Andy Roddick. Roddick showed his potential to be a top contender during this year’s Grand Slam when he won the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla. in early April. To get there, he topped perennial great Rafael Nadal in the semifinals before beating Tomas Berdych.
The Grand Slam kicked off with the Australian Open in January, which saw Murray making it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Marin Cilic. The Australian Open was won by Roger Federer, with Andy Murray as the runner-up. On the women’s side, it was Serena Williams who walked away with the championship, topping Justine Henin. The appearance marked Roddick’s ninth in the Australian Open. He has never won the tournament, but he has finished in the semifinals four times (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009).
Roddick will be looking at the French Open next, which kicks off at the end of May. Roddick hasn’t done especially well in the French Open in the past, never finishing better than the fourth round. Roger Federer is the defending champion, defeating Robin Söderling. After the French Open, the next big tournament in tennis is the Wimbledon Championship in late June and early July in London. Roddick will be out for revenge this Wimbledon, as he had an impressive run to the finals in 2009 only to lose to Roger Federer.
The Grand Slam wraps up with the 2010 U.S. Open from Aug. 30 to Sept. 12 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Billy Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Roddick didn’t have a very successful run in 2009, losing in the third round. The 2009 Finals were exciting as Juan Martin del Potro stole the title from Roger Federer. Had he won, it would have marked the sixth straight U.S. Open championship for Federer. Roddick was in the finals in 2006 and he won the U.S. Open in 2003.
Fans who want to be a part of this year’s excitement can find U.S. Open Tennis tickets at StubHub.com. In the current Men’s Tennis ATP Rankings, Roddick is ranked seventh. He is behind Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Juan Marin del Porto and Nikolay Davydenko. Roddick has time to make his way up the rankings before the start of the U.S. Open. Roddick’s success in 2010 signals that his career is truly on an upswing.
Roddick was also focused on giving back during the recent Sony Ericsson Open. He was part of a celebrity doubles exhibition, raising money to help victims of the Chilean earthquake. It was played in two sets, with Chilean Fernando Gonzalez, Jim Courier and Gustavo Kuerten also partaking in the charity event. Thousands of fans were in attendance, and the event raised $125,000.

Roger Federer predicts Tiger’s comeback
PEOPLE.com) — Tiger Woods’s pal Roger Federer has spoken to the elusive golfer and believes his scandal-plagued friend will soon return to the sport.
Federer predicts in an interview with French sports paper L’Equipe published Friday that Woods will make a comeback “as the wonderful golfer we know.”
Federer also said he told Woods he’ll support him. “The tabloids are going crazy, sponsor contracts are falling apart,” Federer said.
“I’ve always been aware that the image you patiently construct for an entire career can be ruined in a minute,” he added. “It scares you a bit, but that’s the way things are.”
Federer adds that the November car accident and subsequent stories about extramarital affairs have been rough on Woods.
Woods won the Australian Masters November 15, but hasn’t played golf since. Two weeks later, he crashed his SUV into a tree and a fire hydrant in the middle of the night outside his Florida mansion.
Reports of numerous affairs quickly followed news of the accident, prompting Woods to admit to infidelity and announce he’d be taking a break from golf. He hasn’t been seen in public since the crash, and many friends have said they haven’t been able to reach him.
“Tiger needs calm,” Federer told L’Equipe. “And soon he’ll become the wonderful golfer that we know again.”
