What do you think of Novak Djokovic?
I mean, Djokovic has really stood out this year. So far he has the best won-lost record of the year. He has been in the last two masters finals, winning one of them. At the Sony Ericsson tournament, he completely dominated by not loosing a single set. Is he a future #1?

What did Rafael Nadal say about Argentinean politics?
I read 10 minutes ago a message that he left on his official website, saying “It appears that some Argentinean media publishers have released a statement directed to me in regards to a ‘comment’ that apparently I made about their politics.
Well, I would like to say that those comments are completely false[...]“.
I didn’t hear anything about this matter, does anyone know more? Thank you.

Sexy Sharapova Russia’s Richest Athlete
Sexy Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova has been named Russia’s richest sports celebrity for 2009 and the only woman in the top ten according to Finans magazine.
Maria, Maria
Sharapova income this year was $24 million, down $1.5 million from last year. The leggy, blonde, tennis superstar only made $900,000 from tennis this year but has found the magic formula in world-wide endorsements contracts.
Unlike Sharapova, the majority of other athletes on the list derive their incomes mainly from the sport that they play. Very few have other outside sources of income.
Hockey Players dominate
NBA star Andrey Kirilenko came in second with his $15.1 million take for this year. If the rumors are true, Kirilenko, nicknamed “AK-47”, may vault to the top spot if Mikhail Prokhorov the new owner of the New Jersey Nets can lure him away from his current team the Utah Jazz to the Nets.
NHL star Alexander Ovechkin is third on the list taking home a nice sum of $12 million. The two-time league MVP last year signed an NHL record 13-year, $124 million deal with the Washington Capitals.
Arsenal striker and Russian National team player Andrei Arshavin took in a cool $11.25 million for fourth place.
Another Russian hockey player who has done well in North America is Evgeny Malkin. The Pittsburgh Penguins center $8.7 million per year pay check landed him in fifth place.
Ilya Kovalchuk $7.5 million contract with the Atlanta Thrashers landed him in sixth place.
Chelsea midfielder Yury Zhirkov brings home a tidy sum of $7.5 million per year for the next five years.
Pavel Datsyuk cashed a $6.7 million check this year thanks to his seven-year deal worth $46.9 million. That puts the Detroit Red Wings center at number eight on the list.
Penguins player, Sergei Gonchars is in ninth place with an income of $6 million per season.
Andrei Markov, a defender for the Russian national ice hockey team rounds out the top 10 with a $5.8 million annual salary.
Top Twenty-Five
The entire list includes 16 hockey players, five footballers (soccer players),three tennis players and a one basketball player.
In the near future, expect to see additional names added to the list as more of the world discovers the talents of Russian athletes.

US Open- Del Potro Defeats Federer in the US Open and Gains Title
The menâs US Open proved a surprise for everyone. The tournament seemed in the bag for world No. 1 Roger Federer, who entered the final match against 20-year-old sixth seed Juan Martin Del Potro, against whom Federer had won all 6 of their previous matches. Five sets later, Del Potro walked off the court with the title, defeating the seemingly undefeatable Federer 3-6, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2. With the loss, Federerâs hopes of setting tennis records by winning six US Open titles in a row disappeared. The Swiss player was hardly at the top of his game, losing his composure at times during the match. He exchanged curses with the chair empire and committed more double-faults than he has previously in final matches. As the balls flew past him, one gained the impression that Federer had no idea how to stop Del Potro. Nevertheless, the match was a difficult one for both players, and each battled throughout the long contest. Del Potro certainly ended some of Federerâs greatest records. The Swiss tennis star had won 40 consecutive matches at Flushing Meadows, had won 33 of his previous 34 Grand Slam matches, and has made 17 finals at his past 18 Grand Slam tournaments. Del Potro, on the other hand, entered with a fraction of Federerâs experience; the Argentine was playing his first Grand Slam final. However, Del Potro had already upset Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. The win laid the groundwork for his match against Federer. “Maybe I look back and have some regrets about it,” said Federer. “But, you know, you can’t have them all and can’t always play your best. “I would like to congratulate Juan Martin on an unbelievable tournament. I had a great one myself, too,” Federer went on, “but he was the best.” Federer seemed unstoppable in the first set, taking it 6-3. Events took a turn for the worst for the world No. 1 in the second set, however; the first set was a warm up, and Del Potro seemed on fire as he won the second set on a tiebreaker 7-6 (5). Although he lost the third set 6-4, the Argentine seemed to gain confidence from his initial win. The fourth set brought the most struggle in the match. Del Portro broke service once, while Federer broke it twice. The set ended on a tiebreak; Del Potro won, and pushed the match to a fifth a final set. It was here that Del Potro crushed Federer, smashing the Swiss player 6-2 and winning the match and the title. During the interview after the match, Del Potro said, with tears in his eyes, that he had had two dreams coming into the US Open: the first was to win the Open; the second to play as well as Federer. He had, he said, accomplished one of these â heâd won the US Open. He added that he still needed to improve to become like Federer one day, though. The 4-hour, 6-minute match was the first U.S. Open final to go five sets since 1999 while Del Potro was the first Argentine to win the US Open since 1977.

Tiger pick up the call from Roger Federer
Tiger woods donated $300 millions to Haidi after Haidi earthquake last week ?the NO 1 golfer kept silence for a long time?finally he appeared.
Tiger woods hasn’t been seen – at least, there have been no confirmed sightings of him – or heard since his car accident in late November, aside from a few notes posted on his Web site. Some of his golf buddies have said they tried to reach him, unsuccessfully. Some of his celebrity buddies have said the same – tried to call, number changed, couldn’t get through. He also let his titleist ap2 irons alone.
But when Roger Federer calls, Tiger apparently picks up the phone. Federer told a French newspaper that he and Woods have spoken on the phone. Federer called Woods’ troubles “instructive,” saying:
“The tabloids are going crazy, sponsor contracts are falling apart. … I’ve always been aware that the image you patiently construct for an entire career can be ruined in a minute. It scares you a bit, but that’s the way things are.”As we know?career is man’s life?but he cast away ping and let himself not found? sex scandal hurt him deeply.
Ah, but Roger, the key there is to patiently construct an image that reflects who you actually are, rather than one that is so at odds with the way you behave in your private life.
Federer said that Woods “needs calm,” and predicted that Tiger will “soon … become the wonderful golfer that we know again.”
happy day!
